Nodes
A node is the edge component that connects your building systems to the Novant platform. It communicates with your BMS over local protocols like BACnet or Modbus, and sends data outbound to Novant over HTTPS.
Novant supports two node types:
Hardware node - A dedicated physical device shipped to your site and connected to the building network.
Virtual node - A Docker container deployed on an existing PC, VM, or other device already on your network.
Both node types connect and operate the same way once running. The choice comes down to whether you have existing infrastructure to host a container or prefer a standalone device.
