Browsing Devices and Points

Once Explorer has discovered devices on your network, you can browse their points to understand what data is available before adding it to your project.

Browsing Devices

After a scan, the device list shows every device discovered on the network. Each entry displays the device address and high-level details like vendor and model. To see a device’s points, you need to explicitly learn them — see Using Explorer for the scan and learn workflow.

Not all devices expose the same level of metadata — what you see depends on the protocol and device configuration.

Inspecting Points

Each point shows its name, current value, and metadata such as object type, units, and description. Use this information to identify which points you want to bring into your project as source points.

Points displayed in Explorer are not yet part of your project. To start collecting data, add them through source configuration. See Sources for details.
