Associating Sources with Assets
Once you’ve created assets and configured sources, you can link them together. This lets you view a source’s points directly from the asset it belongs to — so instead of navigating by source, you can navigate by equipment.
How It Works
Each source can be assigned a parent asset. When a source is linked to an asset, all of that source’s points become viewable from the asset. This means you can open an AHU asset, for example, and see every point being collected from the controller connected to it.
Linking a Source to an Asset
- Navigate to Sources in your project.
- Click Edit on the source you want to associate.
- Set the parent asset to the asset this source belongs to.
- Save the source configuration.
The source’s points will now appear when viewing that asset in the Assets tab.
Notes
- A source can only be associated with one asset.
- Multiple sources can be linked to the same asset — this is common when a single piece of equipment has more than one controller or connection.
- Associating sources with assets doesn’t change how data is collected. It only affects how you navigate and view points in the UI.
