Assets
Assets represent the equipment in your building — AHUs, VAVs, chillers, meters, sensors, and other devices you want to track. They’re the bridge between your physical equipment and the data Novant collects.
Adding Assets
To manage assets, open the Assets tab in your project. You can add assets individually or import them in bulk.
For each asset, you can define:
- Name — a human-readable label
- Type — the kind of equipment (AHU, VAV, meter, etc.)
- Properties — metadata like manufacturer, model, or serial number
For the full list of asset types and properties, see Assets.
Why Assets Matter
Assets give your data physical context. Instead of browsing raw source points, you can navigate to an asset and see all the data associated with that piece of equipment. This makes it easier to troubleshoot issues, track performance, and share information with your team.
To connect assets to their data, see Associating Sources with Assets.
