Configuring Sources
Once you’ve discovered devices and points with Explorer, the next step is to configure your sources so Novant can start collecting data.
Each source needs two things: a node and a source map. The node is the edge hardware or virtual instance inside the building that physically communicates with the device — it’s responsible for reading and writing data on the local network. The source map defines which points to collect from the device. Together, they tell Novant where to read data and what data to read.
